HEADWATERS OUTREACH INITIATIVE:
A collaborative group of local non-profits led by GHA volunteers kicked off the Headwaters Outreach Initiative at Second Creek Cabin. This is now an annual event.
East Grand Middle School students participated in learning about high elevation ecosystem processes including:
- High elevation life zones, wildlife tracking, food web recognition
- Wetland/riparian ecology, aquatic habitat, and watershed awareness
- Leave no trace ethic, human impacts & mitigation, and maintaining ecosystem integrity
- Outdoor adventures, wilderness survival, mountain
navigation, and avalanche safety
